Thanks to its temperate tropical climate, Mauritius is a true kitesurfing paradise almost all year round. Mauritius offers very reliable wind conditions from June to October, and its coast almost totally surrounded by coral reefs offers both turquoise lagoons for freestyle, and world-class reef waves for wave riding experts. There are spots for all levels and tastes.
From September 5 to 15, professional kitesurfers will go to the public beach of Bel Ombre and compete for their passion on one of the best kitesurfing spots in Mauritius during the GKA (Global Kitesurf Association) Kitesurf World Tour. This competition will feature two different disciplines: freestyle and wave riding.
Bringing together local and international riders in the southwest of the island, Bel Ombre remains a hidden jewel with few visitors but exceptional kite conditions. Bel Ombre has one of the best protected lagoons with impressive underwater biodiversity. Nature lovers will have fun on this huge playground.
2019 marks the return to serenity and simplicity with a single world kitesurfing circuit, the GKA Kite World Tour! Now a unified format, it will offer freestyle competitions (GKA Freestyle World Cups) and other wave and strapless freestyle competitions (GKA Kite World Tour), big air can also make its comeback, with race formats adapting to different spots and conditions.
