Ideally located on the famous islet, the Ile aux Cerfs course is nestled in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, on the east coast of Mauritius. This club – one of the oldest on the island – opened in 2003. It offers an 18-hole course specially designed by reigning champion Bernhard Langer. Heritage Golf Club
Considered a meeting place for experienced golfers, the Heritage Golf Club occupies the former sugar estate of Bel Ombre. Its hilly 18-hole course welcomes all players in the shade of old trees and the castle of the old plantation. The less experienced can also access this route which extends along the rivers of Les Citronniers and Saint-Martin. Known as one of the most beautiful courses in Mauritius, the Heritage Golf Club is also one of the largest courses in Africa (cf. ranking of CNN Travel), and incidentally THE best golf in the Indian Ocean (2014 – 2015). It welcomes beginners with open arms on a compact course, and gourmets at the table of its restaurant and bar.
Avalon Golf Estate
Although it seems new to this game, the Avalon Golf Estate stands out for offering an exceptional 18-hole course, in the deep southern Mauritius. Designed by the great South African architect Peter Matkovitch, it is a true artistic journey. It extends over several hectares, and is located right next to the Domaine de Bois Chéri. This club, one of the very last to have settled in the Mauritian territory, offers a magnificent setting consisting mainly of tea plantations and bush landscape planted with Fandia Fern trees. This luxurious and diversified vegetation also houses a spacious club house, conducive to refreshment, shopping and swimming in the pool.
The Golf Anahita
Known for its wide fairway golf course, Anahita’s golf course was specially designed for experienced players who have swing. The Anahita Golf Course, designed by South African Ernie Els, is the only course that meets USGA standards in Mauritius and is the only club entitled to host the PGA Tour and European circuit tournaments. It is an exclusive and particularly luxurious course and an integral part of the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius.
The Mont Choisy Golf
On par with other golf courses, Mont Choisy Golf is also one of the newest courses in Mauritius. Designed by former professional golfer Peter Matkovich, this 18-hole championship course stands out for the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and its rich background. This golf course is a unique discovery place for golfers who, in addition to practicing their favourite sport, also enjoys a nature conducive to relaxation between family or friends.
The Tamarina Golf Estate
The 18-hole Tamarina Golf Estate has been welcoming players of all levels since 2006. Crossed by the Rivière du Rempart and lined with tall trees, this club appeals to players for its setting and its beauty. It occupies a relatively wooded area of 43 ha, which used to be a rocky hunting ground that offers a natural landscape. Each hole, offers an impressive view of the Bay of Tamarin and of Rempart Mountain.
